There are many management methodologies around, like ITIL, PRINCE2, the one I’m currently studying PMI, and many more but actually there is only one thing a PM has to do and that is doing what is good for the project.
Just leave out all the processes that you don’t need. Whenever you can, do less and keep the processes lightweight.
Doing this will help you and your team to focus.

Hero points go to you for not dragging the agile term into this. Yay for non-buzzword content.
Thanks for the hero points Bart
No random buzzwords here, I’m going for an honest blog.
On another note, I did once start in this agile PM book but never finished it.
First of all, nice blog! I saw a list of useful links on your blog, and I thought at you probably meant to link to the PRINCE2 official website using PRINCE2 text. You might want to know that the official website for prince2 is actually prince2.org.uk. I thought this link might be more beneficial for your visitors.
Best
Jay
Thanks for the heads-up Jay! I’ve updated the link.
